Outside of V.A.T.S., the weapon can be used for indirect fire over a considerable distance. The weapon is patterned exclusively towards right-handed operators. The can is offset to the left, to accommodate the electronic monitoring system mounted on the weapon (though after the Great War, no units have been identified as having a working system).
Belts are fed into the firing chamber from a magazine can on the bottom of the weapon. The grenade machinegun (GMG) is a recoil-operated, belt-fed, fully automatic 25mm grenade launcher.
